Impressed is an understatement! For $20/pp (lunch buffet), this is worth the visit! The value is great for the food that is available. They have oysters (not the yummiest I've had, but for the value, I'll take it!), clams, shrimp, sushi, sashimi, Chinese dishes, sesame balls filled with red bean (one of my faves- so yummy!), sago with mango (must try!! It was delicious!), and so many other options! I heard that they bring out more seafood options for dinner so we'll have to come back for that at some point. All the staff we interacted with were so friendly and helpful. Overall had such a great time here and can't wait to come back. And so clean!
Steak: The chef cuts and grills it fresh, and it is tender and delicious in your mouth, unlimited!! Fresh seafood: Oysters, shrimps, crabs... Eat more and you will get your money back quickly! Sashimi sushi: Salmon is cut fresh in the store to ensure the best taste. The sushi is neatly arranged and the shape is very delicate. Just looking at it is a kind of enjoyment, and the taste will surprise you!
Cute decor, excellent service, surprisingly good food! I brought my three kids here for lunch on a Saturday while my wife was taking a class nearby. It was really well stocked and setup very nicely, and the service was great! My only complaint was that it was not immediately obvious that they charged dinner rates all day on the weekends, so be prepared to spend the higher amount for lunch. Which was a shame because we definitely didn't come prepared to eat that much. But it was good and I would definitely come back. For lunch. During the week.
For the price, well worth the drive and experience. Atmosphere is cozy Asian modern. Pretty large variety of seafood. Some of it better than others. Not really high quality ingredients but not lowest either. And the steak, even though small portions, were VERY good quality, cut and flavor. Service was very attentive and nice. Good dude. We'll be back!!
When I tell you I enjoyed dining at Sakai, it was phenomenal. Went for lunch and was greeted and seated immediately. The staff and server was very we welcoming, nice, and professional. The restaurant was clean and well managed, with cute decor. The food was so delicious. I feel like this place has the right amount of variety of food and sushi. They even do made to order steak and ramen. I cannot wait to go back and dine with them. It was a great dining experience. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out, it's such a hidden gem.
This place was a complete surprise. Yelper reviews brought me here for a quick lunch. I'm not a buffet person, but this place had such a select of ramen, sushi and seafood amongst other things that I was SOLD! The lunch price was $19.95, which was a steal if you as me! The customer service was excellent. My waiter and even the owners check on me frequently. Best value and pretty good selection of food!
New buffet plus. Opened 3 m ago. Choices of ramen, steak, standard Chinese, sushi, Fancy Chinese, desserts, crab, crab legs-holy cow, you are going to gain some weight here from the quantity but the quality is so high you are going to have to try it all! Waitresses/guides help with decisions and drinks. Place is Clean and Comfortable. Great addition to the neighborhood.
I. Am. Shocked. I was in Baltimore visiting and my coworkers and we were craving seafood. We found this buffet on-line and decided to Uber. It was far from the main city-center, but so worth it. The reason why I am shocked is because it was a Sunday and it wasn't packed. Also, in California, any buffet or an AYCE spot on the weekend is line-out-the-door and long waits. So it was a pleasant surprised to just come in and have an all-you-can-eat buffet for under $40. We mostly came for the raw oysters because that's what we were craving and actually they were our least favorite thing. We still had some and no one got sick, but they didn't look the absolute freshest and they were too big. So, that's my one hope is that this spot will up their game on their raw oysters and clams. The service was absolutely incredible and the food was delicious and fresh. You can skip the steak because it was nothing special even though they say that it's a sushi and steak buffet. As long as you focus on the seafood and other items, you will leave satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food.
Family owned and operated, Sakai offers a great selection of items. Having been a similar style buffet that is a chain, Sakai offers less choice but higher quality! I ordered several rounds of their steak but since it was smaller and thinner, I'd recommend ordering it rare, it's not going to come out as pink in the center S you think. The seafood ramen was also delicious! My favorite boba was the honeydew flavor as it reminded me of the melon milk. The service was excellent and the front hostess was also very friendly and asked us how everything was on the way out. We shared our honest feedback and she stated she was appreciative of the feedback. Since this place offers so many options, it's great for large families, kids and even if you have picky eaters in your group! :)
TLDR: Premium Asian buffet with high emphasis on quality sushi and seafood offerings. Come for the the sashimi! Vibe: 5/5 - Located in the previous Crafty Crab location on York Road, Sakai has plenty of private parking and is super easy to get to from I83. The owners of Sakai have done a wonderful job refreshing the building. Inside, the restaurant is nicely laid out, complete with a large buffet area and plenty of oversized booth and 4 top seating (can be pushed together to accommodate larger groups). The entire restaurant is clean, nicely decorated and easy to navigate. The buffet area has 3 sections as well as 2 coolers off to the side that hold bubble tea and desserts. All silveware, chopsticks, renge spoons etc. are centrally located adjacent to the buffet which is well thought out and convenient! Service: 5/5 - We were very impressed with the staff during our weekend lunch visit. We made a reservation via Google for 12:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Our server Kendall did a fantastic job keeping our table well stocked on drinks as well as delivering our made to order ramens and steak. Typically we associate subpar service when it comes to buffets, but Sakai have us the level of service and friendliness associated with a standard full service restaurant. The kitchen staff must also be recognized, as the food offerings were quickly replenished when low and hot/fresh. After we finished lunch, we stopped and chatted with the owner who was manning the hostess desk and expressed how happy we were with our meal. This is a family owned business with 1 location, so we will certainly do our best to come back! Food: 5/5 - Let it be known, this is not your $9.99 "No. 1 Supreme Buffet" that has been engrained in all of our minds when you hear Asian buffet. Sakai embraces a premium buffet experience by offering higher end dishes and amenities to it's diners which include bottomless bubble tea, Cajun seafood boils, freshly prepared garnished sashimi/nigiri and made to order tonkatsu ramen and NY Strip/Filet steak. For Saturday lunch, Sakai offers it's dinner service all day, so you will be receiving all the extra seafood that is offered at dinner. This comes at a elevated price of $35, however can be justified if you come ready to indulge in seafood, sushi and steak. Weekday lunch is a bit more affordable at $25, but the spread won't be as voluptuous. For my party, the highlights included the various nigiri and sashimi, the grilled garlic oysters on the half shell and both the freshly prepared NY strip and tonkatsu ramen. Bonus points for having the endless bubble tea cooler, as it was fun creating ourselves a bubble tea flight to have with our lunch. Overall, if you are in the mood for a variety of sushi and seafood and have a big appetite, highly suggest giving Sakai a try!
